Favorite Items in the Whole Wide World: Shinra check card; Shinra pass card (allows access... well... pretty much ANYWHERE.); His white, classic Junon Couerl -- an exquisite, perfectly maintained luxery vehicle/convertible; Lenore - the stuffed llama. That last one is a well guarded secret.

Dress-Style: Always fashionable -- he is the type of person you will NEVER see wearing pajamas to class. Only the most expensive Mideel boots, His long flowing white coat (not insulated during the warmer months), and either a nice dress shirt or a dark turtleneck.

Past: He grew up in the lap of luxery, the son of the President of the Shinra Power and Electric Company -- the most powerful and prestigious man in the world. Rufus' mother left when he was fifteen, after learning of the presidents many affairs. Because of his status as future heir to the corporation, Rufus was unable to keep in contact with her. He covered up the devastation well, but deep down it bothered him. Rufus was never close to his father, James Rufus Shinra Jr, and grew to hate him even more as he matured. When his mother left, Rufus dropped his first name, for all intents and purposes, and refuses to acknowlegde it in most company. Without his beloved mother and with a distant and emotionally abusive father, Rufus grew to be cold and distant, his only companion being a large black panther by the name of Dark Nation.

At the age of 17, Rufus began sending information and funds to a terrorist organization in Midgar known as Avalanche. These anonymous donations were never truly detected, but James Shinra did notice that something was up. Thus, when he turned eighteen, Rufus was sent away to university after a life of home-schooling. He looks at this "sentence" with contempt but is still accepting the challenge. Rufus has never truly failed anything with life.

Aside from all of this, being the future heir to ShinRa, Rufus was trained and taught by some of the greatest minds of his generation. He was schooled in the Shinra estate from the age of four up through high school. He was also trained in several forms of self defense, as well as everyday high society skills such as debate, trivial knowledge, and ballroom dance. What Rufus lacks in social skills he makes up for in most everything else.

His hardest critic, is surprisingly not his father, but himself. Rufus strives for the highest point in everything in life. He has to have it all. When he isn't studying -- which he does minimally as he tends to grasp concepts easily and do more than what is expected in his classes, he is writing or taking photographs -- two endeavors which he is almost ashamed of. Creativity has been drilled into his skull as useless and bohemian.

Personality: Cold, distant and aloof. Rufus would rather sit back and read, drink coffee or sit in silence than socialize with others. Most of his socialization is focused on classes, frequent trips to the bar, or one sided conversations with his cat. He is passive aggressive and generally has something snarky to say rather than attacking someone head on. Most people at the university get on his nerves at least once every time he encounters them. He expects a lot from everyone, including himself, and is often let down. Rufus secretly wishes that he could hold a friendship, but he will never, ever let that out. As for romance, he finds that he has no time for such malarky. Being close and honest with people makes him tense up. Women are something that he looks at from afar when he isn't insulting their intelligence. He's the kind of guy who would pay for a nice dinner... y'know. If he were human or something.

Any Quirks: Goes most everywhere with his bodyguard and 'friend,' the black panther Dark Nation. Nearsighted, but wears contact lenses. Ambidexterous. Terrified of closed places and spiders. Highly proficient at several forms of ballroom dancing. Drinks a great deal but can handle his liqour very well. Can't swim. And of course, no one has ever seen him bleed or cry.
